Looking for an opportunity to give something back to your community?

Karingal Neighbourhood House (KNH) Governance Committee is seeking nominations for membership from people with a positive commitment to developing this vital community-run organisation.

No experience is necessary, just a passion for helping the community grow strong and a commitment to participating in regular meetings (about 2 hours per fortnight).

The Governance Committee is responsible for managing the service and its paid staff and for ensuring that the House gives local people what they want and need. Committee members are volunteers.

Karingal Neighbourhood House
is a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can gather to meet each other, learn something new, share skills and experiences or get information and support. It has been a vital part of Karingal for 30 years.

The current committee is a small but dedicated group of males & females from different backgrounds and professions (including parents and home-makers) who live in Karingal and elsewhere.

KNH is located in modern, purpose-built facilities at Karingal PLACE, Ashleigh Ave.

Now that we have had our AGM, I thought it might be a good idea to introduce our new Committee of Managment. They are:

President:  Graeme Glenn
Vice President: Tina Resoort
Treasurer: Jackie Jenkins
Secretary: Ingrid Glenn
General Committee: Louise Willis, Ivy Thomas and Melissa Partington

Sadly, we recently had to say goodbye to our previous Coordinator, Ev Mitchard. Ev had put in 15 years of love and dedication into the position, and decided that it was time for a change. We wish Ev well in her new endeavours!

The new Committee of Management wish to assure you that we are already working hard to ensure that next year is a great year for Karingal Neighbourhood House. Over the Christmas break we will be appointing a consultant to look at what we can do in the future, including some new ideas for funding and activities and meeting community needs. We hope to have a new Coordinator in place by early 2012.

If you are interested in having a say in what happens at Karingal Neighbourhood House next year, then consider joining our Committee of Management! New members are always welcome!
